Although the modern times we live in are a far cry from utopia, the ancient age was a time of constant chaos and peril in which a single day of peace was a distant dream. The Greatest of Evils rose from hell to plague the land, commanding his army to bring havoc to the human world. The people were too weak to defend themselves against these evil forces, and it was all they could do to suffer and wail to the heavens. Then, as if God suddenly answered their prayers and screams of despair, a lone Monk appeared to gather other heroes to fight the Greatest of Evils and save the world.
This band of warriors journeyed to the temple where the greatest evil resided. Half of these warriors perished on the way as they passed through the cave in which the army serving the Greatest of Evils was camped. Even when facing death, these warriors died bravely, knowing that their sacrifices would not be in vain if their comrades were victorious in the end.
Only the Monk and four of his allies were able to survive the perilous cave, and finally arrived at the temple where the greatest evil was waiting. They attacked the evil with all the might and valor they could muster, employing shrewd strategies and magnificent teamwork, but the evil was unfathomably strong and would not fall easily. The warriors couldn't withstand the evil's onslaught indefinitely, and on the brink of defeat, they were forced to use their last resort to defeat him: they burned up their lives to create five Confinement Pentacles to seal away the evil.
"Grrr! You may have succeeded in banishing me for now, but eventually, I shall destroy your world! I, Baphomet, the Greatest of Evils, will return."
Baphomet's last cry echoed throughout the world. This was the first time that humanity had ever heard its name.
The five warriors brought peace to the world at the cost of their lives, but no one believed that it would last forever. Only the power of the Pentacles was keeping Baphomet out of the human world, and if the pentacles' power was weakened, then nothing could stop Baphomet from returning.
In anticipation of Baphomet's imminent resurrection, the people built an abbey near the temple to pay tribute to the Monk that had led the five warriors that defeated Baphomet. Today, many holy men and women train there to discipline their minds and bodies and ultimately become Monks.
Years passed.
All things made by man eventually crumble to dust, and the Confinement Pentacles aren't exempt from the rule. As time crawled on, their power slowly grew weaker. The caretakers of the abbey sense the pentacles' waning power and know that it is only a matter of time until Baphomet breaks free. Desperate to stop Baphomet's resurrection, the abbey is recruiting warriors from all over the continent. The time to battle Baphomet has come once again.
Introduction
Beneath the St. Capitolina Monastery, is a seal that holds the great demon Baphomet. The seal however is breaking, and adventurers are needed to seal away Baphomet again.
The goal of this instance is to make your way through the winding catacombs of St. Capitolina, and confront Baphomet at the sealed shrine. Baphomet's power is too great to defeat physically, making it impossible to damage him. By pulling him through a series of seals located around the map, you can drain him of his defenses and properly defeat him.
The dungeon has a time limit of 2 hours, one hour for the catacombs and one hour for the battle with Baphomet. The minimum level required to participate is level 75, and at least two players. If you fail to complete the task during the specific time or your entire party leaves the dungeon, you are free to reattempt the dungeon immediately. If you successfully seal away Baphomet and claim your reward for doing so, you will be unable to reattempt the Sealed Shrine for 12 hours.
The rewards for the dungeon are solely in the form of drops from Baphomet. In addition, the drop item from baphomet 'Cursed Baphomet Doll', can be used to create the giant majestic goat.
The Sealed Shrine is a 'Memorial Dungeon', an instanced dungeon that is created uniquely for your party. Like the other memorial dungeons, there is a delay before you are able to enter the dungeon again should you complete the challenges layed out. A memorial dungeon instance cannot be created during the 6 hours preceding War of Emperium, until War of Emperium is over.
To register a memorial dungeon for your party, you'll need to talk to Friar Patrick inside a building near the center of St. Capitolina. Only the party leader can register a dungeon. Once the dungeon is registered, the party members can enter the dungeon by touching the Tomb next to Patrick. While being disconnected will return you to your save point, party members can re-enter the dungeon as long as at least one player remain inside the dungeon.
The following skills are disabled inside the dungeon:
- Assumptio
- Safety Wall
- Teleport
Dungeon Progression
Part 1: Catacombs
Monsters: 40 Zombie Master, 40 General Skeleton, 40 Deadly Wraith, 40 Flame Skull, 30 Evil Druid, 30 Wind Ghost, 20 Khalitzberg, 20 Lude, 20 Ancient Mimic, 10 Banshee, 1 Dark Illusion (Monsters do not respawn)
- Tomb of the Fallen Hero: Make your way to the Tomb of the fallen hero. The guild leader will have to walk near the tomb, and then speak with the spirit there. The spirit will ask you to find his pendant.
- Find the Fallen Hero's Pendant: Located across the map are 13 different graves. Randomly within one of these graves will be the Hero's Pendant. When you find the pendant, bring it back to the hero's Tomb.
- To the Altar: With the pendant in hand, the Hero will ask you to come ot the center alter. The leader of the party will have to talk to him and learn all they can before telling him they are ready to continue.
- Essense of Fire and Apostle's Token: In order to approach the seal of Baphomet, you'll need to find 10 Essence of Fire from torches located about the floor. In addition, each player will need to carry with them an Apostle's Token. When someone kills a monster marked as an Apostle of Baphomet, the Token is placed directly in their inventory. You'll need to distribute the tokens to everyone in the party. When everyone has a token and the party leader has gathered 10 Essence of Fire, return to the Fallen Hero.
- To the Grave of the Devil: Once the Fallen Hero tells you he's opened the door for you, you need to make your way to the very south east corner of the catacombs.
Pard 2: Baphomet's Seal
- Baphomet's Resurrection: Once on floor 2, you should make your way to Baphomet's Main Seal. At each of the three entrances to the seal room you'll be attacked by a number of Baphomet Apostles. It would be wise to clear the three Apostle groups before approaching the altar. Remember that these monsters can re-appear after 5 minutes time. At the Altar, when the party leader checks the seal, Baphomet will break free.
- Defeating Baphomet: When Baphomet first appears, he will make himself invulnerable to damage. Be warned, the invulnerability makes Baphomet considerably stronger. In order to defeat him, you will need to use the 5 seals within the room to weaken him.
Every minute the Fallen Hero will call one of the seals in the room. If the Seal is activated while Baphomet is standing near it, his invulnerability will end for a short period of time and his attack strength will fall sharply. During this time you will be able to damage him. Baphomet will renew his invulnerability buff every minute, so you may want to if you can time your usage of the seals to this (he will speak when he is renewing it). Remember that one player cannot activate the seal more than once in 3 minutes or the usage will fail and the seal will deactivate, and if a seal is used when bapho is not immediately nearby it will have no effect. If you pull it off correctly you may be able to bring Baphomet through the seals without him re-activating his invulnerability.

Description |
Called the 'Great Evil', roughly twice the size of regular Baphomet. Baphomet uses an Invulnerability that beyond simply making him immune to all damage also drastically improves his attack strength, making him easily one of the hardest hitting monsters in the game. This is compounded by the inability to use Safety Wall and Assumptio within the dungeon. The key to defeating him is using the seals located within the shrine to remove his invulnerability temporarially. By constantly using the seals to weaken baphomet you can keep him from regaining his power, and potentially defeat him.
